Benefits of Chapter Membership

 

Membership Eligibility


Membership in the Missouri Association of Public Purchasing is open to public institution procurement and materials management professionals engaged in federal, state, county, municipal and township activities, public school systems, colleges, universities, hospitals, commissions, authorities and other political subdivisions.

The membership year runs January through December.

Membership Includes:

  • A membership certificate and a lapel pin
  • A copy of the MAPP Code of Ethics
  • A subscription to the MAPP newsletter
  • Information relating to certification and professional development
  • Access to a variety of bid specifications
  • An opportunity to meet and work with other professionals in public purchasing
  • The opportunity to vote in all elections and help determine the course of the Association and the public purchasing profession

Membership Fees 


General Member
General Membership: Membership in the chapter shall be open to all Public Institution Procurement and Materials Management personnel; including Federal, State, County, Municipal, and Township activities, School Systems, Colleges, Universities, Hospitals, Commissions, Authorities employed in the field, other Political Subdivision, Elected/Appointed Officials, Department Heads, and Educators (who are in a position having direct influence of the Public Procurement process).

Price: $40.00 for the year January-December prorated to $20.00 after July 1st.

Student Member
Higher Education Student Membership: The Higher Education Student (“Student”) Membership is not subject to annual dues while enrolled in college and not qualified for regular membership through current employment. Otherwise, the annual dues rate for a Student is the same as the annual General Membership dues rate. Students are eligible to register and attend MAPP conferences and seminars at the same price as General Membership but are ineligible for educational scholarships and cannot hold an officer or board position. Higher Education Student members are not entitled to vote.

Savings/Discounts
MAPP members are eligible for scholarships to help offset the expenses of attending conferences and seminars. In addition, MAPP members can receive substantial discounts on registration fees for attending MAPP conferences.

Education
MAPP holds an annual Spring Conference to help members stay current in their profession. The chapter also coordinates NIGP on-site classes at locations in Missouri. Topics range from legal issues and ethics, to sourcing, solicitations, contract administration, and program management. NIGP is as an authorized provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for those who participate in NIGP's face-to-face, webinar and online courses.

Certification

MAPP encourages its members to obtain professional procurement certifications, which demonstrate competency in public and governmental purchasing. By participating in various MAPP events or seminars, members may be able to earn points and fulfill certification requirements. Certifications associated with NIGP are issued by the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC).

MAPP's job opportunities page lists new positions in the public procurement sector and notifies members via email when new jobs are posted. MAPP agency members can request a free online job listing by emailing info@mappi.org.
